Approach
Voice is definitely one of Tiffany's passions. To be most accurate, singing is her bliss, and she delights in helping others who love to sing develop and cultivate this bliss for themselves as well--from children to adults to those with special needs.
Tiffany approaches voice from a whole-student perspective; taking into account that the expression of singing is the expression of each student as a whole person. After all, that is why we sing--it connects us to not only our own emotions and our own 'selves,' but to others and something greater that we truly enjoy. She believes in honoring every student's own individual process--as every student has a right to his or her own unique learning and expressive process--and out of supporting, validating and empowering each student's vocal expression and process, vocal growth and progress are inspired. Tiffany loves teaching voice to a variety of different experience levels and helping others learn to freely express themselves and their creativity beginning as young as 7 years old through senior citizens, those with special needs and those who live with anxiety, post-traumatic stress or a similar anxiety related condition. She believes that it is never too late to learn and enjoy this special and very personal expressive art form!
In voice lessons, Tiffany provides a positive and supportive environment for each student to develop his or her voice and finds it very important to tailor the lesson to the needs of the individual student--whatever the vocal level--whatever the need. Beyond helping students learn to internalize healthy vocal speaking and singing habits, breath support, projection, diction, intonation, expressivity and overall release and artistry of voice, Tiffany first and foremost makes a special effort with each person she serves to make lessons the most enriching and empowering experiences through meeting each student where he or she is at in his or her process:
*She is especially attuned to the needs of those who are interested in voice lessons who experience anxiety, post-traumatic stress or similar anxiety-related condition(s). She has a depth of understanding for assisting students in the process of singing who have experienced traumatic, abusive or unsupported backgrounds. Students who are serious about voice lessons as well as those seeking to strengthen, release or improve their own voices for individual reasons are all welcome! *When working with special needs, she takes into account all aspects of the student's needs and encourages his or her creativity and expressiveness with not just singing but instruments, movement, rhythm activities and even acting and puppets if desired! Each lesson is as unique as the student!
*When working with children, she finds it especially important to make music fun not only in singing, but in introducing children to music fundamentals and rhythm with lots of neat instruments. Children not only learn to express themselves in song, but enjoy learning and composing rhythm patterns and gaining a better understanding about how music works while having fun and experiencing their voices in a very positive way!
*Training and preparing students who are serious about studying voice in college and/or performing is also of importance to Tiffany. She is very excited about bringing the best to each student with which she is privileged to work in terms of healthy vocal release and empowering each student in meeting his or her goals as singers in expressing best from his or her authentic 'self.' She has found instrumental the resources of internationally-renowned vocal pedagogue David Jones and his work with the Swedish-Italian school of singing as well as her own other continuing studies in private voice of correct speaking and singing techniques which have successfully released and improved her own voice and is delighted to bring these things to her students!
*In a broader sense, she teaches students proper breathing and support and helps guide students to finding vocal freedom and beauty as well as meaning in what they sing. Validating and empowering students' voices and helping them find their voices from inspiration is the first and foremost objective with Tiffany as well as learning and internalizing healthy vocal habits that release the voice. Developing music-reading skills are encouraged for interested students as well.
Striving for excellence in teaching and supportiveness to achieve the best benefit for her students is of the utmost importance to her, as she knows developing one's voice in a supportive environment is not only deeply rewarding and liberating--but can even be healing and empowering to ones' 'self' and voice as well.
